Houston ISD (HISD) provides a clear process to ensure all volunteers are prepared and approved to serve on campus.

Steps to Become an HISD Volunteer
To protect our students, all volunteers must register and pass a background check through the HISD VIPS (Volunteers in Public Schools) program.
1. Register Online

Visit the HISD VIPS Registration Page

Complete the online volunteer application

Provide a valid email address to receive updates
2. Bring Your ID to the Campus

After completing your online application, visit Law Elementary School
-
Present one of the following forms of identification:

Texas Driver’s License or State ID
-
Official Passport
-
U.S. Military ID
-
Resident Alien Card
-
3. Background Check Processing
-
HISD will process your background check.

This step may take 3–5 business days.
4. Receive Approval

Once approved, you will be notified by email.

After approval, you can begin volunteering at Law Elementary School!
